Did you know ...

Your EHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance. Do not cover repatriation (return) or losses due to crime or natural disasters.

Also called for the EU health card, more than eight million people in the United Kingdom have already received the new EHIC card - looks like a plastic ID card and enters data such as name, birth date and social security number.

City Bond (Online)
No upper age limit, underwritten by AXA, call 0800 093 4647

The card has 3-5 years and entitles you to free or reduced emergency care during the visit of the European Economic Area (EEA).
But there were thousands of complaints about bugs in the map - the name is misspelled ("Cool" instead of "cuisine", for example, or '1935 'instead of '1985' on the day of birth).
The problem is the tracking system is used to interpret hand-written forms of the application. If you have bad handwriting, or use a pencil cup, it is likely that a card be issued Duff.
And that could cause serious problems if you used their European health insurance card in the event of medical emergencies abroad - you can be refused treatment if your card does not match what is in your passport.

If your credit card is bad, they come back soon. After seven days to go for news is the precise time and our experience is the same. If you apply by mail you can expect to wait longer - three weeks. By phone 10 days.

The new European health insurance card will be issued automatically to all those who apply for the new E111 form - your passport to free emergency care or discounted care in the country in accordance with the health of reciprocity with the United Kingdom (European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) and check the box to receive the new card.

If you or your family suddenly ill or are injured during your visit to one of these countries, free or reduced-cost necessary treatment is available - in most cases, on presentation of a card European health insurance card.

Only the state provided the treatment is covered, and you will treat the same conditions as insured residents of the country where you are invited to visit.
private treatment are generally not covered, and the treatment nation-state can not cover all the things you expect to receive from the NHS would be free.
Details on who is covered - remember, do not come all the residents of the United Kingdom eligible - is available via the following link.

Getting treatment in EEA countries and Switzerland: Form E111

Remember, remember

The EHIC Card form is NOT a substitute for comprehensive travel health insurance.
If you and your family are involved in a car crash in France, say, it won't cover you for repatriation (return) to your place of departure ie home, for treatment at a local hospital.
Only comprehensive travel health insurance cover, which you'll have to take out privately, would cover you for that.
Or for returning your remains (gulp) if the worst should come to the worst.
Someone, somewhere will have to cough up for returning your earthly remains back home...

Reciprocal health agreements do not apply to you if you have the Swiss national living in the UK and go to Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway - or if you are a citizen of either country residing in the UK to Switzerland.
Nationals of Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia are resident in the UK and went to Switzerland is not currently covered.
Form EHIC is not valid outside the EEA or Switzerland.
EHIC arrangements apply to stateless persons and refugees residing in the UK.
They are now non-EEA nationals must be legal in the UK.

They DO NOT apply to Non-EEA nationals for visits to Denmark, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland: country-by-country checklist and private insurance should be obtained.
Non-EEA nationals visiting Iceland are covered for emergency treatment only under a reciprocal health care agreement between the UK and Iceland. You'll need to produce your NHS medical card to get treatment.

If you work in the UK but pay social security contributions in another EEA country or Switzerland, you must obtain your EHIC to the institution to which you pay your dues.

Not all residents of the United Kingdom are covered by Denmark, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland - Health leaflet "Travel" gives more information is available from post offices or website Department of Health through the link on the left.
But you simply fill out a registration form to receive E111 for you, your spouse / partner and dependent children.

The new EHIC is very convenient and ideal for short stays such as holidays and vacations, and all other forms used for temporary stays, such as those currently used by workers posted to another country and students who study abroad in the United Kingdom, of course
